Why does my sims 2 game keep crashing?

The problem may not be with the game but with your laptop. It's may be shutting down because it is overheating. Check if there is dust in the fans and clear it out. Sims 2 is a resource intensive game so it will cause the laptop to heat up faster than other programs.
